Bucket Filling

At Frank Elementary School we are continually working toward maintaining a peaceful and welcoming environment. We work hard to encourage positive interactions among all students Kindergarten through 5th grade. We offer the Bucket Filling Program here at Frank that is designed to promote a positive school environment.

The concept of Bucket Filling is that everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds all of their good thoughts and feelings. When our buckets are full, we feel happy. When our buckets are empty, we feel lonely and sad. Children understand very quickly that they can fill buckets by being kind, caring, and respectful to others. They also understand that disrespectful and uncaring behavior will dip out of other people’s buckets, or remove their good feelings.

Our Bucket Filling Program encourages respectful, responsible, and safe behavior. The following is a link to an informational website about Bucket Filling:

Bullying Prevention

One of the main objectives of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) is creating a caring and safe school environment for all students. As part of OBPP, Frank has adopted the following four anti-bullying rules:

1) We will not bully others.

2) We will try to help students who are bullied.

3) We will try to include students who are left out.

4) If we know that somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.

Parents and students see these anti-bullying rules displayed in the classrooms and around the school as an important visible reminder of our stand against bullying.
