Principal's Message

Believe it or not, we are at the mid point of the 1st quarter.  I am pleased to announce that our students have entered our school each day with our school’s purpose in mind – to learn, behave, and follow the Jacket Way. We have been working hard to introduce many procedures and routines to our students. Thank you for teaming with us in emphasizing this with your child.

An important component of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is class meetings. These class meetings help students to understand the anti-bullying rules and how those rules play out in their daily school lives. Discussions, role-plays, journaling, and self-reflection are some of the possible activities included in classroom meetings. Meetings are held in each classroom one time per eight days for 15-30 minutes. Through meetings, students learn about themselves and their feelings and reactions, as well as those of their peers. In addition, meetings build a sense of community within the classroom and allow teachers to learn more about the classroom culture, relationships among classmates, and possible bullying tendencies.

Frank School Office Hours

A secretary is now in the office beginning at 8:00 a.m. each day during the school year. The office remains open each school day until 4:00 PM.  Please leave a message if calling before or after hours at 419-874-8721.

2018-2019 Friendly Reminders

• Entering the building during school hours:  All visitors during the school day will need to enter using the front entrance (9:05 am-3:35 pm)

• Morning Drop Off:  School starts at 9:05 am, and doors open at 8:50 am. If you are dropping off your child after the bell rings at 9:05 am, you will need to come into the office with your child.

• Early pick up:  If a student will be leaving prior to 3:35 pm, parents must report to the school office and sign out their child.

• Dismissal:  Students will be sent home as typically indicated, unless the teacher receives a note indicating a change. This should be a written note, including the date of the change. If an emergency change occurs once school has started, please call the office. Per our transportation guidelines, students are not permitted to ride buses to which they are not assigned.

• Cafeteria:  Restaurant food, pop and other carbonated beverages are not to be brought into or consumed in the cafeteria. Lunch is a time for children to socialize with their

friends. We ask that you limit coming to eat with your child to their birthday or special occasion (out of town relative visiting, etc.).

• Electronics:  If possible, please keep electronics at home. This includes smart watches. If your child does bring an electronic device, it will need to stay off and in their locker. Reminder: lockers are not locked.

• Birthdays:  In an effort to nurture healthy food choices as well as protecting an increasing number of students with food allergies, we will continue to not distribute edible treats. This year the practice will occur in all Perrysburg Elementary buildings. We appreciate your partnership as we continue implement this school policy. Additionally, please do not send gifts to school. The school day will not be interrupted to deliver gifts (balloons, flowers, etc.).

Breakfast Program

Frank Elementary is proud to announce that we will provide a breakfast program during the 2018-2019 school year. We will offer grab and go breakfast items such as pancakes, cereal bars, cereal bowls, bagels, muffins and cheese sticks, assorted fruits and juices and milk. We will also have some gluten free cereals and yogurt.

A breakfast costs $1.50 or $0.30 if the student qualifies for a reduced price meal. Breakfast is free if the student qualifies for free lunches.

The student will go to the cafeteria upon entering the building in the morning to purchase breakfast. Then the student will go the classroom to eat breakfast as part of the morning routine in the classroom before the bell rings at 9:05 AM.

There will be no breakfast served on two-hour delay days.

Arrival/Dismissal Routines

Arrival and dismissal routines are very important to create a safe, productive learning environment. We will be adhering to the arrival and dismissal guidelines (which can be found below) at all times during the school year. Together, we can ensure a smooth, efficient, and safe arrival and dismissal time.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
